Rani Shah

Rani started her journey on the Central Coast by attending and graduating Cal Poly in 1996. Falling in love with the coast and her husband, they wanted to make a go of living in this beautiful, inspiring place. Twenty-nine years and two grown kids later, she along with her husband are grateful to have made a life here.

Rani has held many roles during this time: Americorp Mentor to youth in SLO County, Children’ Services Manager for Parks & Rec, SARP and Crisis Coordinator for what is now Lumina Alliance and Mindbody Knowledge-base Administrator to name a few. She served on all the PTA's of her kids schools, and was passionate about Safe Rides and Bike days for kids. She is currently enjoying and committed to her role as the Communication Coordinator for the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce, working with the business community and alongside people who help make the community thrive.

She found out about the commission, after taking a Board Training Certification from the Diversity Coalition SLO County. With a want and need to further the charge of enhancing the standing and care for women and girls, she was proud of what the Commission stood for and wanted to be part of it. She was appointed for District 2 in 2024.

She goes by the social moniker of OmSheSaid and stands by the following quote by Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed individuals can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
